The school’s instructional emphasis leaves little time for many activities common to the traditional high school, in particular, organized athletics. However, the school does offer the following opportunities:
Student Council. Students elect leaders for advocacy and to coordinate student events.
ASFA Ambassadors. Student volunteers serve as guides to visitors and ushers at performances.
Peer helpers. The peer mentoring program matches older students with younger students in one-on-one relationships. Through this special relationship, peer mentors provide advice and support and serve as role models for younger students.
Publications. Students produce Performance (the school yearbook) and may submit articles to Applause (the monthly PTSO newsletter).
Academic Bowl, Math Team, Science Olympiad, Odyssey of the Mind. School teams compete with area, state and regional secondary schools.
Field trips. The school organizes a variety of trips relating to its educational offerings.
National Honor Society. Recognizing outstanding upperclassmen for scholarship, leadership, service and character, NHS also performs an annual community service project.
Mu Alpha Theta. An honorary organization recognizing excellence in mathematics.
Community service. The school cooperates in a number of community service activities led by students, faculty and community service agencies.
Special events. Students and faculty organize dances, parties and other non-curricular events.
