Hello!

This year will be my sixth at ASFA, after previously teaching at other schools in the Birmingham area and in Chattanooga, TN. I have taught everything from Pre-Algebra to AP Calculus. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Birmingham-Southern College and a Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Secondary Mathematics Education from the University of Tennessee. Pursuing a PhD in Education is somewhere in the 5- to 15-year plan.

I strive to form a relationship with each student to better understand their needs and goals, academic and personal. My goals for them are to become not only better problem solvers, but also better people. I do my best to demonstrate the practice of lifelong learning and engagement by showing curiosity not only for mathematics and STEAM^2 subjects, but also by appreciation of art and involvement in local culture.

My partner Dan and I are welcoming the return of the regular football season. In addition to playing with our fur children, Riley and Sipsey, we spend time outdoors whenever we can. This past summer we built new raised beds for our garden, eagerly awaited the second season of Ted Lasso, and re-watched all of the LoTR extended editions.
