ASFA's Central Alabama Regional Science & Engineering Fair Winners!

ASFA had 10 Math-Science seniors and 10 Math-Science underclassmen compete in the 2023 Central AL Regional Science & Engineering Fair (CARSEF) at UAB. They received many awards and recognitions. Congratulations to all of them! The detailed results are as follows:

 

  1. Special Awards: The following students earned Outstanding Achievement Awards 

 

Regeneron Biomedical Science (with a $375 prize) – Monisha Bommu (10th grade)

United States Air Force  - Daniel Zhao (12th grade)

Yale Science & Engineering Association  - Arsalan Ahmad (12th grade)

 

  1. Category Awards: All 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placements advance to the AL Science & Engineering Fair (ASEF). This year’s fair will be held in-person and hosted by Auburn University on Apr 1, 2023.

 

        1. Biology
  • 2nd place: Team – Ashu Anand (10th grade) & Martin Vizzina (10th grade) advances to ASEF
  • 3rd  place: Team – Sophia Guo (9th grade) & David Wang (9th grade) advances to ASEF

 

        1. Environmental & Earth Science
  • 1st place: Steven Tran (12th grade) advances to ASEF
  • 2nd place: Aanchal Behara (11th grade) advances to ASEF

 

        1. Mathematics & Computer Sciences
  • 1st place: Daniel Zhao (12th grade) – advances to ASEF and Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Dallas, TX on May 13-19, 2023
  • 2nd place: Arsalan Ahmad (12th grade) – advances to ASEF
  • Honorable Mention: Jesse Seidel (12th grade); McNair Shah (10th grade); Team – Conrad Feng (10th grade) & Noah Lowry (9th grade)

 

        1. Medicine & Health Sciences
  • 1st place: Monisha Bommu (10th grade) advances to ASEF
