ASFA had 10 Math-Science seniors and 10 Math-Science underclassmen compete in the 2023 Central AL Regional Science & Engineering Fair (CARSEF) at UAB. They received many awards and recognitions. Congratulations to all of them! The detailed results are as follows:

1. Special Awards: The following students earned Outstanding Achievement Awards 

Regeneron Biomedical Science (with a $375 prize) – Monisha Bommu (10^th grade)

United States Air Force  - Daniel Zhao (12^th grade)

Yale Science & Engineering Association  - Arsalan Ahmad (12^th grade)

2. Category Awards: All 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd placements advance to the AL Science & Engineering Fair (ASEF). This year’s fair will be held in-person and hosted by Auburn University on Apr 1, 2023.

1. Biology

• 2^nd place: Team – Ashu Anand (10^th grade) & Martin Vizzina (10^th grade) advances to ASEF
• 3^rd  place: Team – Sophia Guo (9^th grade) & David Wang (9^th grade) advances to ASEF

2. Environmental & Earth Science

• 1^st place: Steven Tran (12^th grade) advances to ASEF
• 2^nd place: Aanchal Behara (11^th grade) advances to ASEF

3. Mathematics & Computer Sciences

• 1^st place: Daniel Zhao (12^th grade) – advances to ASEF and Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Dallas, TX on May 13-19, 2023
• 2^nd place: Arsalan Ahmad (12^th grade) – advances to ASEF
• Honorable Mention: Jesse Seidel (12^th grade); McNair Shah (10^th grade); Team – Conrad Feng (10^th grade) & Noah Lowry (9^th grade)

4. Medicine & Health Sciences
