Amazing Ala. Science & Engineering Fair Results!

Congratulations to the following ASFA Math-Science students who spent the end of their Spring Break presenting their research projects at the Alabama Science and Engineering Fair (ASEF) held at Auburn University Saturday, April 1st – Arsalan Ahmad, Ashu Anand, Aanchal Behara, Monisha Bommu, Sahana Donti, Sophia Guo, Joscelyn Peterson, Nicole Sazonov, Steven Tran, Martin Vizzina, David Wang, and Daniel Zhao. They all did a fantastic job of discussing and defending their research for hours to a rotating panel of judges. Major kudos to all these students for their exemplary effort!

 

Joscelyn Peterson won the Provost Award as well as $200 and will join Daniel Zhao as a Finalist at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Dallas, Texas May 14-19! 

 

Category placements were awarded $150 for first place, $100 for second place, and certificates for first, second and third:

Arsalan Ahmad – 3rd in Animal, Plant, Computational & Bioinformatics Science

Sahana Donti – 1st in Behavior & Social Sciences

Joscelyn Peterson – 3rd in Behavior & Social Sciences

Sophia Guo and David Wang – 2nd in Cellular, Molecular, Microbiology & Biochemistry

Aanchal Behara – 2nd in Earth and Environmental Sciences and Environmental Engineering

Ashu Anand and Martin Vizzina – 1st in Medicine, Health & Translational Medical Science

Monisha Bommu – 3rd in Medicine, Health & Translational Medical Science

Steven Tran – 2nd in Physics, Astronomy, and Mathematics

Daniel Zhao – 3rd in Robotic Systems & Communication Technology
