Senior dance student Ella Rosenthal was named “Youth of the Year” by the Kiwanis Club of Birmingham. She won a $2,500 scholarship. Members of the Kiwanis Club of Birmingham have granted scholarships worth about $220,000 to the Youth of the Year since 1971. The Youth of the Year Committee seeks applications from high school guidance counselors of the most promising students in the area. Typically five to six students are recognized at a meeting in the spring with one of them being named as the “Youth of the Year.”
