Music Students Win at Lois Pickard Scholarship Competition

The Lois Pickard Scholarship Competition is hosted by the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. It is open to serious and gifted young musicians ages 12 through seniors in high school. Students of strings, brass, winds, percussion, and piano from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, & Tennessee are eligible to enter. The Alabama School of Fine Arts Music Department had a string showing this year with the following awards:

Andrew Robertson, 11th grade, 1st Place in the Instrumental Category, clarinet. Taught by Dr. Robert Janssen.

Conrad Feng 10th,  grade, 2nd Place in the Piano Category. Taught by Dr. Lucy DeSa.

Diana Nazarenko, 11th grade, 2nd Place in the String Category, viola. Taught by Lucina Horner.    

Jasmine Young, 10th grade, received an encouragement award in the Instrumental Category, clarinet. Taught by Dr. Robert Janssen.
