ASFA students win big at the Alabama Statewide Mathematics Competition

ALABAMA STATEWIDE MATHEMATICS COMPETITION: 

Congratulations go to our students for doing an outstanding job in the Alabama Statewide Mathematics competition. Below are the detailed results. 

 

CIPHERING ROUND 

On Saturday, April 9th, 2022, the ASFA Math-Science team competed in a Ciphering Competition at the University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama in which ASFA was named the state champion!

The team members led by the Mu Alpha Theta ASFA chapter president, James Hongjie Shi, were Xinghui Xu (12th grade), Daniel Yu Zhao (11th grade), Elias Mrug (10th grade), Cynthia Liu (10th grade), Deepakkumar Sathishkumar (9th grade), McNair Mitesh Shah (9th grade), and Rishi Yellamraju (10th grade).

 

STATE WRITTEN TESTS: 

Written Test: Geometry (David Kwong) 

Team: Placed third. 

Team scores were for: Aditya Sheelavant , Albert Chen, Monisha Bommu, and Srihansi Sagi. 

 

Geometry Individual Awards went to: 

Aditya Sheelavant with a perfect score, 1st place

Albert Chen in 2nd place. 

 

Written: Algebra II and Trigonometry: 

Team:  Placed First 

Team scores were for: Deepakkumar Sathishkumar, McNair Mitesh Shah, Rishi Yellamraju, and Nicole Sazonov 

 

Algebra II and Trigonometry Individual Awards went to: 

Deepakkumar Sathishkumar 1st place

McNair Mitesh Shah 2nd place

Rishi Yellamraju  2nd place,  

Nicole Sazonov 6th place

Alexander Kim 8th place 

 

Written Test: Comprehensive 

Team: Placed Second 

Team scores were for: Elias Mrug, James Hongjie Shi, Daniel Yu Zhao, and Xu Xinghui

Comprehensive Individual Awards went to: 

Elias Mrug with a perfect score, 1st place

James Hongjie Shi 9th place

Daniel Yu Zhao 9th place

Xu Xinghui 13th place
