The 8th-grade math team has been busy this past month. They’ve submitted to the MATHCOUNTS Video Contest, completed the MATHCOUNTS Chapter and State competitions, and participated in the Pizitz Virtual Math Tournament. Join us in congratulating them on their placements and achievements!

MATHCOUNTS

• Chapter Round:

Albert Chen, 4^th of 58

Aditya Sheelavant, 6^th of 58

Team: Albert, Adi, Noah Lowry, and Pratul Danasekar earned 2^nd place in the chapter competition which qualified them all for the state round.

• State round:

Albert Chen*, 2^nd of 56

Aditya Sheelavant, 11^th of 56

Noah Lowry, 12^th of 56

*The top four students from every state advance to the National tournament, so Albert will represent Alabama at MATHCOUNTS Nationals!!

Pizitz

• Algebra 1 Division II (small school)

3^rd – Pratul Danasekar

5^th – Noah Lowry

11^th – Clark Baty

12^th – Jaiden Lee

13^th – Danielle George

Small School Team – 2^nd place (this is a compilation of the highest individual scores)

• Advanced Division (middle school students above Algebra 1)

1^st – Albert Chen (by over 10 points, which is a lot)

6^th – Aditya Sheelavant

Team – 3^rd place (because other teams had four scores while we only had two)

Each of the students who placed will receive an award for the tournament.
