ASFA Math-Science 8th graders on a roll

The 8th-grade math team has been busy this past month. They’ve submitted to the MATHCOUNTS Video Contest, completed the MATHCOUNTS Chapter and State competitions, and participated in the Pizitz Virtual Math Tournament. Join us in congratulating them on their placements and achievements!

 

MATHCOUNTS

  • Chapter Round:

Albert Chen, 4th of 58

Aditya Sheelavant, 6th of 58

Team: Albert, Adi, Noah Lowry, and Pratul Danasekar earned 2nd place in the chapter competition which qualified them all for the state round.

  • State round:

Albert Chen*, 2nd of 56

Aditya Sheelavant, 11th of 56

Noah Lowry, 12th of 56

*The top four students from every state advance to the National tournament, so Albert will represent Alabama at MATHCOUNTS Nationals!!

 

Pizitz

  • Algebra 1 Division II (small school)

3rd – Pratul Danasekar

5th – Noah Lowry

11th – Clark Baty

12th – Jaiden Lee

13th – Danielle George

Small School Team – 2nd place (this is a compilation of the highest individual scores)

  • Advanced Division (middle school students above Algebra 1)

1st – Albert Chen (by over 10 points, which is a lot)

6th – Aditya Sheelavant

Team – 3rd place (because other teams had four scores while we only had two)

Each of the students who placed will receive an award for the tournament.
