Tariq Masri

Tariq Masri is currently the principal bassoonist of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. He has also served as principal bassoonist of the Hofer Symphoniker in Germany. Tariq has a Bachelor of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music where he studied with David McGill. Tariq also pursued graduate work at the University of Southern California where he studied with Stephen Maxym.
During the summer, Tariq participates in the Sun Valley Summer Symphony in Idaho. He has also participated in the Ravinia Festival with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. As an orchestral musician, Tariq has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic including a tour to Asia in 2015. Tariq played as guest Associate Principal Bassoon with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in 2017. He has worked with various conductors including Daniel Barenboim, Pierre Boulez (including a recording for Deutsche Gramaphone), Ricardo Muti, and Gustavo Dudamel. As a chamber musician, Tariq has performed with pianist, John Novacek, as well as members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.
