Congratulations to Music Department 10^th grader Jasmine Young, who won a student composition contest sponsored by the Birmingham Art Music Alliance.  As part of the contest, composers were asked to use items and locations around Railroad Park for inspiration. Jasmine’s piece entitled By the Lakeside was performed during a Oct. 16 concert at Railroad Park. The piece was performed by the Cahaba Saxophone Quartet, made up of professional musicians. Jasmine, who plays clarinet and saxophone at ASFA, was the only student composer whose piece was selected for the performance.
